In the last message, I spoke about how powerful God’s words are and how they created the entire universe. We learned that when God said anything, it happened. Thanks to Jesus, His atoning death on the cross, and the blood that He shed, reconciliation, redemption from the curse, forgiveness of sin, our healing, prosperity, joy, and peace, just to name a few, we now have a voice and our words are just as powerful.
You’re now thinking, “Pastor Dale you are crazy, my voice holds no power, and what I say does not matter.” Never think like that. Your words as I mention a few weeks ago have the power of life and death (Proverbs 18:21). Now, I will show you how much more powerful your words are when you believe and receive, and are life-changing. Grab your Bible and turn to the Gospel of Mark 11:12-25.
It all started in verses 12-14 as Jesus and the disciples came from Bethany on their way to the temple in Jerusalem. He saw a fig tree that had nothing but leaves and no fruit. Jesus curses the fig tree, so it will never bear fruit again. Then in verses, 15-18, They went into the temple in Jerusalem and saw that it looked like a flea market instead of a place of worship. As Jesus cleared the temple, the chief priests started to plan a way to kill Him, but afraid as everyone loved Jesus’ teaching.
To continue, verses 19-21, on their way back to Bethany, they walked by the same fig tree Jesus cursed and Peter looked amazed. He tells Jesus the fig tree withered away. Looking at these two verses should give you a strong clue that words are so powerful.
Your words as I mention a few weeks ago have the power of life and death (Proverbs 18:21). I will show you how much more powerful your words are when you believe and receive, and how your words are life-changing.
Let us return to our passage in verse 22, Jesus says four words that we need to say and repeat every day, “Have faith in God.” Do you want to please God? Have faith in Him because, without faith in God, you cannot please Him (Hebrews 11:6). The type of faith that I am talking about is not ordinary human faith, but the God-kind of faith. I will explain more in my Faith Series coming in May-June 2021 timeframe.
Jesus continues in verse 23 explaining the power of words. He uses the mountain as a metaphor to explain how you can deal with any of life’s issues. The mountain can be debt, a sickness that needs healing, a marriage that needs reconciliation, family and friends that need to be saved, needing certain bills paid, just to name a few. Then Jesus tells us to “throw it into the sea,” which means to give it to God and trust Him fully to take care of your needs (Philippians 4:19).
The rest of this verse is compelling and you do not want to miss this at all. When you throw your mountain into the sea, Jesus says to not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you have said will come to pass. That means it will happen and it will be done for you. Hallelujah! Glory be to God! That is so powerful.
The keyword in this and many other verses is “believe.” It is what we lack most of all. Without the God-kind of faith, how can you believe? Faith and Belief walk hand-in-hand as you cannot have one without the other. Never doubt your words, but believe in what God can do, and watch your life change before your very eyes.
In the last two verses, 24 and 25, we see the desired end results. Jesus finished by stating that whatever you ask in prayer, believe! See, here is that word again, believe! We believe and live by faith and not by what we can see (2 Corinthians 5:7). When you believe it, then you need to receive it. Once you get these two things into your heart, believe, and receive, it will be yours, and you will see how your life will change because Jesus is the life-changer, hallelujah!
Verse 25 is significant to see your mountain leave, you need forgiveness. Easier said than done right? If you have any unconfessed issues against anyone, forgive them, and do not bring it up again. When you forgive, God will forgive you for your trespasses.
One last thing is with faith in your words, you will also need patience. Do not pray for patience because if and when your faith is strong, your patience will also be strengthened. Faith and patience are known as the “Power Twins.” They also go together and again cannot have one without the other. I will give you an example of what happened to me a couple of years ago.
One day, I had a routine Doctor’s appointment. He was listening to my carotid artery on the left side of my neck and it sounded different than my right side. My Doctor felt that I had a blockage to my brain. I rebuked it in the name of Jesus and got into the healing Scriptures. I kept saying by Jesus’s stripes I am healed (Isaiah 53:5) and by Jesus’ stripes you were healed (1 Peter 2:24). Those Scriptures got down in my heart because faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17). I believed it and I received it, in the name of Jesus!
He sends me over to have an ultrasound performed. They could not verify the blockage, so he sent me to another doctor that specializes in the vascular system. They set me up with an MRI with and without contrast. When the specialist saw me that first time and examined me, he told me what I am doing here.
When he saw me again after the MRI, he said again what am I doing here. He saw no blockage on the MRI and I told him, “by Jesus’ stripes I am and were healed, Glory be to God!” We all have been in the waiting room, so while there, praise God for everything. Keith Moore once said that if you do not see that mountain move, just believe, that mountain is moving.
Our words are so powerful, we can move mountains. We need faith and patience, and you will see how life-changing they are and you will be singing praises to God every day. Then you will start sharing with others and watch them get healed, out of debt, bills paid, marriages restored, amongst other things.
It is the power and authority that Jesus gave to us and He wants us to use it to the fullest. So, get out there and use the power and authority you have. Even when you are waiting, praise God. When your get what you are asking for, praise God. Praise God always, amen!
