The Integrity of God’s Words

In my last thought, I discussed how careful we need to be with our words as they are more powerful than we realize. Our words can be a matter of life or death and which one that we eventually choose, we will eat its fruit (Proverbs 18:21) or speak those words.

In this latest installment of our Words are Powerful series, I will talk about how God’s words are powerful. You ask, “how powerful are God’s words anyway?” His words are so powerful, they can create anything, especially the world we live in. Grab your Bible and turn to the Book of Genesis, Chapter One. Eight times in this chapter alone, when God said something, it happened. Here is what happens when God used His words:

  • Let there be light (Genesis 1:3)
  • Let there be space between the waters of heaven and earth (Genesis 1:6)
  • Let the waters beneath the sky flow together, so dry ground appears (Genesis 1:9)
  • Let the land sprout with vegetation, including plants and trees (Genesis 1:11)
  • Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night (Genesis 1:14)
  • Let the waters swarm with fish and the skies be filled with birds (Genesis 1:20)
  • Let the earth produce every sort of animal (Genesis 1:24)
  • Let us make human beings in our image (Genesis 1:26)

In verse 30, we find something interesting that proves when God speaks, you can bank on it happening. How did God get all of this done? He did not use a magic wand, wave His hands, or stomp His feet. God used His faith to create everything in the universe and what we visualize on earth (Hebrews 11:3). God used His words and faith combined, things will happen, Glory be to God!

Your Bible, no matter if you have a paper or digital copy, is God speaking to you. God’s word is forever sealed in heaven (Psalm 119:89), so it is firmly fixed as we should be in our faith. We have the same faith in our words. When we pray or say something, we need to also say, “I believe it and I receive it.” Remember that faith comes from hearing and hearing from the word of God (Romans 10:17), hallelujah!

Faith also takes action because action releases power. Look at John 3:21, “But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.” God did the same thing. When He used His words in faith, He produces such an action, it created all that we see and possess.

Do not let anyone fool you for a second, God is sovereign, all-powerful, and when He says anything, believe, it is going to happen, and right before your eyes. When you open your Bible daily and as you read, ask God to clear and open your heart, and listen to how His words just flow off the pages. Close your eyes and feel His holy presence. You will know that God’s words are the truth and you can believe in every word that comes from His mouth, Amen!
