Healing With Your Words!

This post will be the last of my Words are Powerful series. I spoke about being careful with your words, their integrity, and speaking to your mountain. For the last post, healing with your words. Get your Bible out in any format, paper or electronic, and turn it to our foundation passage, Mark 16:15-20.

Before I start using Scripture to explain healing with words, I will give a testimony on how it happens, no matter where you are at in the world. There is no time or distance in the power of prayer for healing.

One evening, my sister, who lives in Alaska, calls me. I felt her Spirit was troubling her. She was talking about her friend and all of her troubles. Due to some medical mistakes, they are going to amputate her right foot the next morning.

God quickly got my attention and told me to start using the power and authority that my Son gave you. My sister, wife, and I started to pray in thanksgiving, speaking in tongues and rebuked Satan. After we quoted through Jesus’ stripes she is healed and were healed (Isaiah 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24). We received a text message from my sister the next day. The Doctor came in, looked at her foot, and it was healed. PRAISE JESUS! GLORY BE TO GOD!

Now onto our foundation passage, Mark 16:15-20. Jesus is risen and comes to the disciples rebuking them for their unbelief that He rose from the grave. You want to witness healing, start believing in Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Son of the Living God!

He gave the disciples one specific instruction to go out to all the world and proclaim or preach the Gospel to the entire creation (Mark 16:15). He also mentions that whoever believes in the Gospel, gets baptized, they will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be eternally condemned (Mark 16:16).

In verses 17 and 18, Jesus told the disciples that those who believe, signs will accompanying them. The word accompany is to go somewhere as a companion or be present at the same time as something else. What were those signs?

  • Cast out demons
  • Speak in new tongues (1 Corinthians 14)
  • Pick up serpents with their hands
  • Drinking dangerous poison will not hurt them
  • Lay their hands on the sick and they will recover/healed

In the last two verses, Jesus ascended to heaven and sit at the right hand of God the Father. The disciples obeyed Jesus’ command and started to preach the Gospel. A very powerful passage of Scripture shows we have the power and authority to heal with our words.

There are three major areas in the study of divine healing:

First, healing the world in the name of Jesus. Go to Acts 3:6-7 as we see Peter talking with the lame beggar. He could not offer him anything worldly, but with the authority that Jesus gave him, he spoke words of healing, and the man’s legs were healed and strong. In Matthew 13:15, Jesus gave us three steps to healing, which are having your eyes, ears, and hearts open.

Second, healing for the carnally-minded Christian who has little or no knowledge of the Word. Referring to 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, Paul reminds us that as long as you stay carnally-minded, you will go no further in your walk with Jesus.

Most think that being carnal is sex, but in Hebrews 5:13-14, a carnally-minded person believes only what they can hear, taste, smell, feel, or see. That is not faith. Healing is equal to your faith or belief and not in a physical sense. As Christians, we live by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

Third, healing is for the believer who enjoys the fullness of Christ. Turn to Mark 11:22-25. There are four simple words that will always work for the believer, “I believe, I receive.” When you get these four simple words down in your heart, you will see and witness healing as my wife, sister, and I did. Remember, the one receiving must do the believing. God has already done His part and we need to do ours.

Your words are the most powerful thing you will ever have and used wisely. I cannot stress enough Proverbs 18:21 as your words are a matter of life and death. Get it down in your heart and you will witness healing with your words, Amen!
